How Embedded Parts Impact Greenhouse Construction Quality

Despite their small size, they have a direct impact on the overall structure and lifespan of the greenhouse.

When we build greenhouses, the embedded parts serve two main purposes: bearing loads and resisting wind. The foundation of a multi-span greenhouse needs to support the entire structure, including the steel frame, snow load, and wind load. In addition, the embedded parts must ensure the greenhouse remains stable even in severe weather conditions. Therefore, the quality and installation of these parts are crucial.

Common Issues

With over 28 years of experience at Chengfei Greenhouse, we’ve seen various problems related to embedded parts during greenhouse construction. Below are some of the common issues we encounter:

Thin iron plates: To cut costs, some manufacturers use iron plates that are thinner than the industry standard of 8mm. This reduces the load-bearing and wind resistance capabilities of the embedded parts, which can compromise the stability of the greenhouse.

Substandard anchor bolts: The recommended standard for anchor bolts is a diameter of 10mm and a length of at least 300mm. However, we’ve come across cases where anchor bolts with only 6mm in diameter and 200mm in length were used. Over time, this can lead to loosened connections and structural issues.

Weak connections: The connection between the pillars and embedded parts should be fully welded to ensure a strong bond. In some construction projects, spot welding is used, which weakens the overall connection and reduces the greenhouse's ability to withstand wind.

Improper foundation construction: If the concrete used is of a low grade or the foundation size is too small, the wind resistance of the greenhouse will be compromised. In extreme weather, this can result in the greenhouse collapsing.
