The development and application of new greenhouse materials not only improve greenhouse production efficiency but also provide new solutions for sustainable agriculture. Here are some detailed insights into several new greenhouse materials I have gathered:
1.Transparent Radiative Cooling Film (T-RC):
Transparent Radiative Cooling Film (T-RC) is a new type of greenhouse covering material that can reduce heat stress inside the greenhouse without affecting plant photosynthesis. T-RC film features high emissivity in the atmospheric window, high transmittance in the photosynthetically active radiation band, and high reflectivity in the near-infrared radiation band. Compared to traditional polyolefin (PO) films, using T-RC film can lower the greenhouse temperature by 18.6°C, significantly increasing crop yield.
2.Porous Materials:
Researchers at Heriot-Watt University in the UK have developed a new type of porous material that can be used to store greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide. This material consists of hollow cage-like molecules with high gas storage capacity. By combining computer modeling and artificial intelligence technology, this material is expected to play an important role in capturing and storing greenhouse gases.
3.New Insulation Materials:
With the demand for intensive and large-scale greenhouse development, the research and development of new internal and external insulation materials are also continuously advancing. A company in Beijing has developed various new external and internal insulation materials for greenhouses. These materials are lightweight, anti-aging, and have excellent thermal insulation properties, making them suitable for multi-span greenhouses, solar greenhouses, and warm sheds.
Although these new greenhouse materials have not yet been widely promoted in the market, with the increasing demand for greenhouse production efficiency, the research and application of new greenhouse materials will become an important trend in the future development of greenhouse agricultural technology.
